In most cases, form spam is just annoying and unnecessary, however, under some circumstances it can be malicious and cause serious financial and operational havoc.

But, why is this even a “thing”?

One purpose is to try to promote the spammers products or services through comments acquired through embedded forms on your website. Some of the comments will include links, phishing attempts or offers from the spammer.

Some focus on scanning forms hoping you may reply or acquire your email address one way or another so they can sell your information to third parties. Have you ever been pitched “leads” for your industry? A significant portion comes from spamming efforts.

Other purposes are far more malevolent, by forwarding those phishing attempts to your inbox and sending links that may trigger a malware download which lead to account takeovers, monitor/steal personal and financial information or even fraud.

Effective Jan 2024, our development team has started to upgrade ALL the websites we manage to include CAPTCHA on your contact forms. There is no additional charge for the upgrade because we feel this is an important part of managing your digital efforts.
